Thanks for coming into our lives and being such a wonderful, kind and gentle creature. We love you and miss you more than words, barks or meows can say. We'll see you down the road sweet girl, but until then, you will live on in our hearts and memories.
We are still sanding and priming the old plaster walls. We've complete the second floor and are working our way downstairs. The stairwell has been completed and we're starting to work on the first floor walls.
The central Kentucky area has been in a drought for the past month or so. Everyone that wanted rain can thank us because it didn't start raining until after we had half of the old roof removed. We got around three inches of rain last night and it's supposed to rain off and on all day. The open areas of the roof are covered with tarps but some water leaked into the attic. Luckily it wasn't enough to be a major concern. Hopefully they'll be able to remove the remaining old shingles and get everything dried in by the end of the weekend.
After some thought and a check of the budget we decided to have the old roof replaced. There are four or five layers of asphalt shingles on top of the original cedar shingles. All of it is being torn off and replaced.
The electricians have installed the rear lights at the house. They look pretty good. We have stripped the old paint off the outside of the cast-iron tub and have started priming it. It will be white when we are finished. We've spent most of the day loading the PODS for our move. The dogs stayed in the garage for part of the packing process. Not surprisingly, they wanted out. Husband and doggie say goodbye to the old couch.
The plumbers, drywall subs, electricians, and general contractor all worked at the house today. The plumbers started roughing in the PVC pipes, the drywall subs started taping and mudding the ceiling drywall, the electricians started rough wiring the addition and kitchen, and the general contractor framed in the new walls in the upstairs guest bathroom. They'll all be back on Tuesday along with the insulation contractor who's going to start insulating the attic.
