The KEHC takes in all kinds of horses from thoroughbreds retired at the track to owners who have decided not to keep their horses. We help move the horses to and from the fields to the barn for feeding and grooming and do general clean-up around the barn. When it warms up some we will help with training and will get to ride on occasion. It's great to help this group and these sweet, beautiful animals....and Wife finally gets to be around horses again after too many years of not.
Below are some pictures of Smokey. He is a thoroughbred gelding who was recently retired at a racetrack in Kentucky. In other words, his owners decided they didn't want him anymore and gave him up to the KEHC. (Such people are absolutely disgusting and they deserve to be sent to the glue factory!!!) Anyway, Wife is head over heels in love with Smokey and would adopt him in a heartbeat if she could. Isn't he beautiful? Wife has another date with Smokey next Sunday ;-)

We found his favorite spot to be scratched!
